Hello.
This blog is intended to help share thoughts and opinions , and emotions , on painting watercolors.
I have been painting watercolors for about 15 years , and it still amazes me how each one is so different , so demanding, and how some end up providing so much joy, even when I was ready to give up on them at their early stages.
I intend to share experiences on many fronts, including but not limited to, landscapes, rocks, houses/buildings, portraits, the use of white and light, the mxiing of colors, skies and water, shading, etc etc etc.
This blogs invites feedback on the subject of doing a painting quickly and simply versus taking more time and striving for details.
I have attached two paintings I did. The boat was done in about 15 munites. The road took me several hours spaced over several days.
People seem to loke both. I dont know which one gives me more pleasure.
How is it that something done quickly is often as good or better than one done with more dedication and time ?
Is it because the motions and decisions in doing a subject quickly are more genuine, more spontaneous? I am often afraid to go quickly for fear of failure ? How about you?
take care
